The Nigerian waterleaf  also called gbure is a leafy green vegetable used to make a variety of soup from afang to egusi to edikang ikong.

Waterleaf seeds are extremely hard to find as the traditional process of growing uses cutting propagation.

Heirloom Seeds are homegrown, thereby unprocessed.

  • Matures in 40-60 days
  • Germination rate : 50%

Growing:

When to grow: early to late June

How to grow: Sow seeds at the peak of summer by gently spreading on well-drained soil in full sun. Seeds should germinate in 4 to 10 days.

Waterleaf seeds have notoriously poor germination rate. They will not germinate in less than ideal condition. Planting them too early in the season when the temperature is not consistent will kill the seeds. One established plant can be used to grow more plants by cutting.

Will grow in garden bed or container
